The Viseu Airport , 2015 Airport Viseu, is a regional airport in Portugal . It was renovated for around € 30 million by the end of 2014. All Category 3 safety tests have been performed and passed. According to the city of Viseu on the Portuguese television station RTP , the airport will be used for national and international flights from the beginning of 2015. [obsolete] The airport is about ten kilometers north of Viseu. The airport is also used by the Portuguese Army as a flight school with a CASA C-295 and by sport and private aircraft.

Since the airport has a runway of only 1224 meters, Portuguese airlines such as TAP Portugal , Portugália Airlines , Seven Air Aero VIP , and SATA Air Açores can only use aircraft the size of the Dornier Do 328 , Embraer ERJ 145 , Dornier Do 228 , De Havilland DHC-8 , ATR 42 and the Cessna Citation CJ2 take off and land.

Second and new runway! In a 6-stage structured expansion scenario until 2041, the construction of a new runway with an initial length of 1700 meters and an end of 2700 meters as well as a passenger terminal with an initial capacity of 56 to 300 seats will be built. The freight terminal can also be expanded to an area of 1125 square meters.

In 2018, the Portuguese regional airline Aero VIP served the airport more times a day with Cascais near Lisbon under the SevenAir brand . The flight is part of a north-south connection that connects the cities of Bragança , Vila Real , Viseu, Cascais and Portimão - they are served one after the other on the route.
