Fort St. John Airport is a regional airport near the city of Fort St. John in the Canadian province of British Columbia . It is open 24 hours a day, all year round. There are no flight or noise restrictions. It is in the UTC-8 (DST-7) time zone.

history

The airport opened in the spring of 1940. It benefited from the US entry into World War II and was expanded as a stopover for flights to Alaska . The original older part of the airport was closed in 1943. At the end of the war Canada took over the newly constructed buildings from the American armed forces. North Peace Airport, as it is also known, was taken over by the Canadian Department of Transportation in 1951. The airport has been operated by North Peace Airport Services Ltd. since 1977.
