François Bouchard (born August 8, 1973 in Brossard , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who last played for the Vienna Capitals in the EBEL .

Career

In his junior years, the defender played from 1991 for the Northeastern University team , the Northeastern University Huskies . In the 1994 NHL Supplemental Draft , the Tampa Bay Lightning secured the rights to Bouchard, but after a year in the East Coast Hockey League with the Charlotte Checkers, he moved to Europe to the Finnish first division club Oulun Kärpät .

The Canadian began the following year at HPK Hämeenlinna , but moved to the Augsburg Panthers in the German Ice Hockey League during the 1997/98 season . However, his path initially took him back to Finland, from where the right-handed shooter went to Sweden after another season with Oulun Kärpät, where he played for MODO Hockey in the 1999/2000 season . The following year, the defender was together with Mikael Magnusson Swedish champion with Djurgårdens IF .

The 2001/02 season spent François Bouchard in his native Canada, where he went on the ice in the AHL for the St. John's Maple Leafs . The Canadian returned to Germany for the 2002/03 season and played there for ERC Ingolstadt . From here, Frankfurt manager Lance Nethery brought him to the Frankfurt Lions , with whom Bouchard was able to win the German championship again in 2004 with former teammate Mikael Magnusson . In 2006 the Canadian moved to the Adler Mannheim , where he was next to Tomáš Martinec alternative team captain of the Adler behind René Corbet . In the 2006/07 season , the defender with the eagles won the German championship for the second time in his career and also won the German Ice Hockey Cup for the first time . After the 2008/09 season , Bouchard's contract in Mannheim was not extended.
