Frank O. Horton

Frank Ogilvie Horton (born October 18, 1882 in Muscatine , Muscatine County , Iowa , † August 17, 1948 in Sheridan , Wyoming ) was an American politician . Between 1939 and 1941 he represented the state of Wyoming in the US House of Representatives .

Early years

After elementary school, Horton attended the Morgan Park Military Academy in Illinois until 1899 . He then studied at the University of Chicago until 1903 . His studies were interrupted by the Spanish-American War , in which Frank Horton took part in 1898 as a simple soldier. In 1905 he moved to Saddlestring , Wyoming, where he became involved in ranching.

Political rise

Frank Horton became a member of the Republican Party . Between 1921 and 1923 he was a member of the Wyoming House of Representatives , and from 1923 to 1931 he was a member of the State Senate . In 1931 he was president of this body. In 1928 and 1936 he was a delegate to the respective Republican National Conventions , at which Herbert C. Hoover and Alf Landon were nominated as Republican presidential candidates. In the 1938 congressional elections, Horton was elected to the US House of Representatives against incumbent Paul Ranous Greever . There he completed a legislative period between January 3, 1939 and January 3, 1941. In 1940 his planned re-election failed. Its seat went to John J. McIntyre , Democratic Party candidate .

Another résumé

After his time in Congress , Frank Horton returned to his business interests in Saddlestring. There he was now the owner of the HF Bar Ranch . He died in August 1948 and was buried in Buffalo .
