Paul Ranous Greever (born September 28, 1891 in Lansing , Leavenworth County , Kansas , † February 16, 1943 in Cody , Wyoming ) was an American politician . Between 1935 and 1939 he represented the state of Wyoming in the US House of Representatives .

Early years

Paul Greever attended public schools in his home country. By 1917, he studied law at the University of Kansas Law School. During the First World War he was a first lieutenant in the US Army . After the war, he practiced law in Pine Bluffs and later in Cody, Wyoming.

Political rise

Greever became a member of the Democratic Party . He was Mayor of Cody from 1930 to 1932 and curator of the University of Wyoming from 1933 to 1934 . During this time he was also involved in banking. In the 1934 congressional elections, he was elected as his party's candidate to succeed Vincent Carter in the US House of Representatives. There he completed two legislative terms between January 3, 1935 and January 3, 1939. During this time, many of the laws introduced by the federal government under President Franklin D. Roosevelt were passed under the New Deal in Congress . In the 1938 congressional elections, Paul Greever lost to Frank O. Horton , the Republican Party candidate .

Another résumé

After his tenure in Congress, Paul Greever returned to practice as a lawyer. He died on February 16, 1943 in an accident cleaning a firearm when he accidentally shot himself.
