Franz Becker (politician, 1888)

Franz Becker (born August 17, 1888 in Pritzier ; † June 7, 1955 in Bad Nauheim ) was a German educator and politician ( DVP (1918–1933), NSDAP (1933–1945)).

Life

Becker attended the Realgymnasium in Ludwigslust and passed the school leaving examination there in 1906. From 1906 to 1910 he studied history, geography, German and philosophy in Heidelberg, Leipzig and Rostock. He put 1910 in Rostock the state exam and was 1912 in Leipzig for Dr. phil. doctorate and then entered the school service. From 1913 to 1920 he was teacher and until 1928 a senior teacher . He taught at the municipal Lyceum and Oberlyzeum in Kassel . From 1928 he was director of studies and headmaster of the Malwida von Meysenbug School in Kassel. He held the office of headmaster until 1945.

Franz Becker joined the German People's Party (DVP) in 1918 and was for the DVP from 1921 to 1932 a member of the Kassel municipal parliament , of which he was president during the 60th and 61st legislative periods, and of the provincial parliament of the Hesse-Nassau province , of which he was vice-president 1927 was. He was also a deputy member of the Prussian State Council from 1926 to 1930 . From November 1918 on, Franz Becker built up the citizens' council movement as a counterweight to the workers' and soldiers' councils in Kassel. As a result of this activity, he was elected second chairman of the Central German Citizens' Council for several years . He was actively involved in the suppression of the riots of 1919 and 1920 and spoke against the recognition of the Versailles Peace Treaty on May 18, 1919 . In the municipal area, he acted against Philipp Scheidemann , the mayor of Kassel.

On April 3, 1933, Franz Becker resigned all party offices within the DVP and resigned from it. The NSDAP he resigned on May 1, 1933 at.
