Franz Cornelsen (politician)

Heinrich Friedrich Franz Cornelsen (born October 2, 1868 in Stade ; † October 14, 1951 there ) was a German government official and member of parliament. From 1905 to 1917 he was district administrator of the Prussian district of Minden in Westphalia and from 1917 to 1932 district administrator of the Stade district .

Life

Franz Cornelsen was born in Stade as the son of the wine wholesaler and member of the Reichstag, Johann Cornelsen . In 1888 he passed the certificate of maturity at the monastery school in Ilfeld (Harz) and was then a volunteer soldier in Schleswig's field artillery regiment No. 9 and first lieutenant of this regiment for a year. After his military service, Franz Cornelsen studied law in Freiburg and Berlin . In 1893 he passed the examination to the court clerk, and received his doctorate in 1895 in Leipzig for Dr. iur. utr. In 1899 he passed the government assessor examination . From 1893 to 1905 he was employed at various courts and government agencies in Prussia . On December 22, 1905 he was entrusted with the administration of the district office in the Minden district. On August 7, 1906, the district council in Minden asked for Cornelsen's appointment as district administrator, which took place on September 28, 1906.

During the First World War , Cornelsen was drafted into the military from 1914 to March 1, 1917. On September 26, 1917, he was entrusted with the administration of the district office in the Stade district. The local council asked on March 3, 1918 for Cornelsen's appointment as district administrator. Cornelsen was transferred from Minden to Stade.

The district of Stade was dissolved in 1932. Cornelsen went into temporary retirement. In 1934 he was finally retired. He was a member of the Conservative Association in Minden and from 1911 to 1918 a member of the Provincial Parliament of Westphalia for the constituency of Minden .

Franz Cornelsen was a Protestant and married to Emily Cornelsen, b. Gädeke. His son Franz Cornelsen (* 1908, † 1989) was a publisher and founder of Cornelsen Verlag .
