Kosmos 613 is the code name for an unmanned flight of the Soviet spacecraft Soyuz , which carried out tests in earth orbit in the winter of 1973/74. It was customary in the Soviet Union to give official names only to successful missions. Failed flights were mostly not announced at all and test flights were only announced under the general cover name Kosmos.
The flight
The launch took place on November 30th at 05:16 UTC from the Soviet spaceport Baikonur on board a Soyuz rocket . A two-month long-term test of all systems was carried out in space. The landing took place on January 29, 1974 at 05:29 UTC.
The US mission Skylab 4 took place parallel to this flight , during which the long-term record for a manned stay in space was improved to just under three months.
