As the sixth and last long-term crew of this station, the mission was named Salyut 6 EO-6 . It was the 15th visit by a manned Soyuz spacecraft to this space station and the 62nd flight in the Soviet Soyuz program.
crew
Main crew
- Vladimir Vasilyevich Kovaljonok (3rd space flight), commander
- Viktor Petrovich Savinych (1st space flight), flight engineer
Kowaljonok also achieved the Soviet record of three flights into orbit.
Substitute team
- Vyacheslav Dmitrievich Sudov , Commander
- Boris Dmitrijewitsch Andrejew , flight engineer
As a result of the training, the original substitute team Kowaljonok / Savinych was selected as the first team.
Mission overview
Soyuz T-4 brought the sixth and last regular team (EO-6) to Salyut 6 station. The fifth team consisted of three cosmonauts, but had only been on board the space station for a relatively short time, the sixth team again consisted of only two space travelers.
The coupling was delayed because the “Argon” on-board computer reported that contact with the TsUP ground station had been interrupted.
During their stay, Kowaljonok and Savinych received the guest teams from Soyuz 39 and Soyuz 40 with cosmonauts from Mongolia and Romania .
