Soyuz T-2 is the mission name for the flight of a Soviet Soyuz spacecraft to the Soviet space station Salyut 6, which started on June 5, 1980 . It was the eleventh manned visit by a Soyuz spaceship to this space station and the 58th flight in the Soviet Soyuz program.
crew
Main crew
- Yuri Wassiljewitsch Malyshev (1st space flight), commander
- Vladimir Viktorovich Aksjonow (2nd space flight), flight engineer
Substitute team
- Leonid Denisovich Kisim , commandant
- Oleg Grigoryevich Makarow , flight engineer
The support team consisted of Vasily Lazarev and Gennady Strekalov .
Mission overview
Soyuz T-2 was the first manned test of the new type of spacecraft, after six test flights had already preceded it with Kosmos 670 , Kosmos 772 , Kosmos 869 , Kosmos 1001 , Kosmos 1074 and the unmanned Soyuz T-1 .
As a short-term crew of the Salyut 6 space station, the crew carried the designation Salyut 6 EP-6. For the first time in over two years, a visiting team consisted only of Soviet cosmonauts, without a guest cosmonaut from another country.
The transition to a digital, computer-aided control was viewed as very critical. The crew therefore also undertook the final approach to the station manually after the argon computer system had indicated any deviations.
At that time, the space station was manned by the fourth long-term crew ( Salyut 6 EO-4 ), Leonid Popov and Valeri Ryumin . Malyshev and Aksyonov only stayed on board Salyut 6 for four days before returning to Earth on Soyuz T-2.
