Soyuz TMA-19M is a mission name for a flight of the Russian spacecraft Soyuz to the International Space Station . As part of the ISS program, the flight is designated ISS AF-45S. It was the 45th visit by a Soyuz spacecraft to the ISS and the 151st flight in the Soyuz program.
crew
Main crew
- Yuri Ivanovich Malenchenko (6th space flight), Commander ( Russia / Roscosmos )
- Timothy Peake (1st Spaceflight), Flight Engineer ( UK / ESA )
- Timothy Kopra (2nd space flight), flight engineer ( USA / NASA )
Substitute team
- Anatoli Alexejewitsch Ivanischin (2nd space flight), Commander (Russia / Roscosmos)

- Kathleen Rubins (1st spaceflight), flight engineer (USA / NASA)
Mission description
The mission brought three crew members from ISS Expeditions 46 and 47 to the International Space Station. With Tim Peake, a British ESA astronaut flew to the ISS for the first time, Yuri Malentschenko was the second cosmonaut to reach the Soviet / Russian record of six space flights.
After a six-hour approach, the spacecraft docked with the ISS on December 15, 2015, 17:33 UTC . The docking at the module Rassvet had a technical problem with the automatic approach to the ISS manually performed by Commander Malenchenko. After the spaceship had backed up about 100 meters by itself for safety reasons, Malenchenko then carried out a manual approach. With the arrival of Soyuz TMA-19M just nine minutes late, the regular crew of the International Space Station was increased to six.
Soyuz TMA-19M undocked punctually on June 18, 2016 at 5:52 UTC with Malenchenko, Peake and Kopra on board. This marked the start of Expedition 48 on the ISS with Jeffrey Williams as commander. The deorbit burn began at 8:22 UTC and brought the landing capsule into the denser areas of the earth's atmosphere at 8:52 UTC . The braking parachute was activated at a height of 10.8 kilometers, and the huge white and orange-striped main parachute unfolded at a height of about 7.5 kilometers. The landing finally took place at 9:14 UTC 148 km southeast of Scheskazgan in the middle of the steppe of Kazakhstan .
