Mission description
The mission brought three crew members from ISS expeditions 36 and 37 to the International Space Station. The Soyuz spaceship replaced the Soyuz TMA-07M as an escape pod .
Like the Soyuz TMA-08M, this mission also docked with the ISS in less than six hours after take-off. The spaceship moored at the Rasswet mini research module . On November 1, the Soyuz TMA-09M made way for the Soyuz TMA-11M spaceship by disconnecting it from its berth at the Rassvet module and then docking it again at Zvezda's stern.
On November 7th, the Soyuz TMA-11M spacecraft launched and moored at Rassvet. On board was the torch (still without a fire) that was used to light the Olympic flame on February 7, 2014 in Sochi . This was the first time since October 2009 that three Soyuz spaceships were docked with the ISS. After a "torch relay" during a spacewalk the torch of the crew of Soyuz TMA-09M was handed over so that she could be in time brought back to Earth.
On November 10, 2013 at 23:26 UTC Soyuz TMA-09M undocked with Jurtschichin, Parmitano and Nyberg on board. This marked the beginning of Expedition 38 on the ISS with Oleg Kotow as commander. The landing then took place on November 11 at 2:49 UTC 147 km southeast of Scheskasgan "in the middle of nowhere" in the steppe of Kazakhstan .
