ISS Expedition 60 is the mission name for the 60th long-term crew of the International Space Station (ISS). The mission began with the disengagement of the Soyuz MS-11 spacecraft from the ISS on June 24, 2019 and ended with the disengagement of Soyuz MS-12 on October 3, 2019.

An eagle is indicated in the emblem of the mission. It thus refers to the logo of the Apollo 11 mission , whose 50th anniversary coincided with the expedition. The Apollo 11 Lunar Module was named Eagle .

Taken over from ISS Expedition 59 :

Additionally from July 20, 2019:

After the ISS was manned by only three people for a short time after a Soyuz had undocked until Expedition 59, the order was reversed starting with Expedition 60. That is why the following guests joined the participants of Expedition 60 on 25 September 2019 with Soyuz MS-15 :

Substitute team

Since Expedition 20, no official replacement team has been announced due to the permanent training for the six-person crew. Unofficially, the backup crews of the two Soyuz feeder spaceships MS-12 and MS-13 (see there) are considered substitute crews for Expedition 60. As a rule, these crews are deployed two missions later.

Mission description

The crew on July 20, 2019

In the first four weeks of the expedition, the ISS was only manned by the commander Alexei Ovtschinin and the flight engineers Nick Hague and Christina Koch. On July 20, 2019, the feeder Soyuz MS-13 reached the station after a six-hour flight, so that the expedition crew was again increased to six people.

On October 2nd, Luca Parmitano became the first Italian to take command of the ISS . After the undocking of Soyuz MS-12 with Ovchinin, Hague and al-Mansuri, ISS expedition 61 began on October 3 .
