Mission overview
This flight was a crew exchange mission to the ISS and the 25th manned flight to this station. Expedition 9 , which was working on the space station, was replaced by the crew of Expedition 10 . It consisted of the Russian cosmonaut Salischan Scharipow (commander) and the American Leroy Chiao (flight engineer). In addition, the cosmonaut Yuri Shargin flew with him, who returned to Earth on October 24, 2004 with the Soyuz TMA-4 landing capsule after a short stay at the station of almost eight days .
The launch took place at a carrier rocket of the type Soyuz-FG from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on October 14, 2004 at 3:06:00 pm UTC .
