Kosmos 238 was an unmanned Soyuz spacecraft that conducted tests in Earth orbit in August 1968. It was the last in a series of test flights by the Soyuz Range spaceships following the Soyuz 1 disaster . The previous missions were Cosmos 186 and 188 and Cosmos 212 and 213 .
The flight
The launch took place on August 28, 1968 at 10:04 a.m. UTC from the Soviet spaceport Baikonur on board a Soyuz rocket . All systems that were improved after the Soyuz 1 disaster were tested in space. The landing took place on September 1, 1968 at 9:03 a.m. UTC.
