Mission description

The mission brought three crew members from ISS expeditions 53 and 54 to the International Space Station. Originally, this space flight would have brought two Russian space travelers to the ISS as participants in the two expeditions. In order to save costs in the ISS operation, Roskosmos deleted a cosmonaut from the mission. This made possible the additional participation of Joseph Acaba. His flight is being financed by RKK Energija as a repayment of debts to Boeing that resulted from the joint operation of Sea Launch .

Soyuz MS-06 docked on schedule in “express mode”, ie after four orbits around the earth, to the Russian ISS module Poisk .

The undocking took place on February 27, 2018 at 23:08 UTC, so the ISS Expedition 55 began on the station   with  Anton Schkaplerow  as commander. The landing took place the next day about 3 ½ hours later in the Kazakh steppe 146 km southeast of  Scheskasgan .
