Mission overview

Soyuz 34 was sent unmanned to Salyut 6 because the scheduled service life of the Soyuz 32 spacecraft was coming to an end and the ship Soyuz 33 could not be replaced due to the failure to decouple. Experience from the engine damage on Soyuz 33 was taken into account as far as possible. The third Salyut 6 regular crew ( Salyut 6 EO-3 ) ended the voyage with a successful landing after 175 days with a new long-term flight record.
