Mission description

The mission brought three crew members from ISS Expeditions 44 and 45 to the International Space Station.

The launch was originally planned for May 26, 2015. After the false start of the Progress M-27M space transporter , the start was postponed to July 22, 2015 in order to test another Progress transporter first.

After reaching the orbit, only one of the two solar cell booms unfolded, but this had no consequences for the approach to the ISS. Shortly before the coupling, the jammed boom released and unfolded as planned. A similar problem had occurred with the Soyuz TMA-14M in September 2014 .

The undocking finally took place on December 11, 2015 at 9:49 UTC, so the ISS Expedition 46 began on the station with Scott Kelly as commander. The landing took place on the same day at 13:12 UTC 132 km northeast of Scheskasgan in the Kazakh steppe . It was the first night landing since Soyuz TMA-05M in November 2012.
