Franz von Borcke (Lieutenant General)
Franz Karl Wilhelm Matthias von Borcke (born May 22, 1802 in Bahn ; † July 6, 1886 in Naumburg (Saale) ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and commander of the 15th Infantry Brigade .
Life
origin
Franz was a member of the Pomeranian noble family Borcke . His parents were the major in Dragoon Regiment No. 5 and heir to Roggow , Ludwig Friedrich von Borcke (1767-1827) and his wife Luise Henriette, née Freiin von Steinaecker (1774-1860). The generals Karl von Borcke (1800–1870), Ludwig von Borcke (1804–1888) and Wilhelm von Borcke (1807–1867) were his brothers.
Military career
Borcke received his training at the grammar school in Berlin and joined the 8th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as a volunteer on May 13, 1819 . There he advanced to secondary lieutenant until March 1820 and graduated from the General War School in 1823/26 . In 1827 Borcke joined the Infantry Training Battalion and worked from 1829 to 1831 as a teacher at the Division School of the 5th Division . He then came to the topographical office until 1835 . On May 30, 1835, he was assigned to the Great General Staff as Prime Lieutenant . On May 30, 1836, he was transferred to the General Staff with a patent on July 20, 1831 and promoted to captain on May 30, 1837 . On April 6, 1839 he was transferred to the General Staff of the V Army Corps and from there on April 4, 1844 to the General Staff of the IV Army Corps . There he was promoted to major on April 1, 1845. On February 17, 1846, he joined the 16th Infantry Regiment as a battalion commander . He was on April 19, 1851 Lieutenant Colonel and on September 14, 1851 with the Order of the Red Eagle III. Excellent with a bow. On April 15, 1852 Borcke was promoted to colonel and appointed commander of the 9th Infantry Regiment . On December 18, 1856 he was then commander of the 15th Infantry Brigade. From February 5, 1857 he was à la suite of the 9th Infantry Regiment. On April 9, 1857, he was promoted to major general. On October 5, 1859, he received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd Class with Oak Leaves. Borcke received his departure on August 18, 1860 with the character of Lieutenant General. He died unmarried on July 6, 1886 in Naumburg.
