Karl von Borcke

August Franz Heinrich Ludwig Karl von Borcke (born July 26, 1800 in Bahn , † August 30, 1870 in Naumburg ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Karl was a member of the Pomeranian noble family Borcke . His parents were the major in Dragoon Regiment No. 5 and heir to Roggow , Ludwig Friedrich von Borcke (1767-1827) and his wife Luise Henriette, née Freiin von Steinaecker (1774-1860). The generals Franz von Borcke (1802–1886), Ludwig von Borcke (1804–1888) and Wilhelm von Borcke (1807–1867) were his brothers.

Career

Borcke began an officer career in the Prussian Army in 1813 as a cadet in Berlin , advanced to NCO in 1817 and as a second lieutenant in the 27th Infantry Regiment in 1818 . From 1821 to 1822 he was assigned to the topographical office in Erfurt and from 1823 to 1824 to the topographical office in Berlin and from 1824 to 1827 to the general war school . He rose to prime lieutenant in 1831 and was commanded from 1831 to 1832 in Halberstadt to the replacement troops of his regiment in the Rhineland . From 1833 to 1838 he held the position of regimental adjutant and from 1838 to 1839 he was in command of the 4th combined reserve battalion. In 1839 he was promoted to captain and company commander . In 1842 Borcke switched to the 25th Infantry Regiment with a patent from 1838. In 1847 he advanced to major and commander of the 1st Battalion in the 32nd Landwehr Regiment and in 1852 was battalion commander in the 32nd Infantry Regiment . In 1853 he rose to lieutenant colonel and in 1855 was commander of the 16th infantry regiment . After his ascent to Colonel in 1855, he was charged with 1,856 board for disposition made and has his 1857 farewell obtained with the regimental uniform and board. He has the character of major general in 1858 and the Red Eagle Order III. Received with ribbon in 1861.

family

Borcke married Therese Freiin von Steinaecker (1813–1882), a daughter of District Administrator Franz Bruno von Steinaecker (1786–1862) in 1833 . The marriage resulted in three daughters.
