Friedrich Adolf Wilhelm von Borcke (born October 11, 1807 in Bahn , † January 30, 1867 in Naumburg ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Wilhelm was a member of the Pomeranian noble family Borcke . His parents were the major in Dragoon Regiment No. 5 and heir to Roggow , Ludwig Friedrich von Borcke (1767-1827) and his wife Luise Henriette, née Freiin von Steinaecker (1774-1860). The generals Karl von Borcke (1800–1870), Franz von Borcke (1802–1886) and Ludwig von Borcke (1804–1888) were his brothers.

Career

Borcke began an officer career in the Prussian Army in 1821 as a cadet in Berlin , advanced to NCO in 1822, and in 1825 to secondary lieutenant in the 2nd Infantry Regiment . After his promotion to Prime Lieutenant in 1840, he was commanded to serve with the Great General Staff in 1841 . He then became captain in the General Staff of the IV Army Corps in 1842 and major in the VIII Army Corps in 1848 . He took part in the campaign against Denmark in 1849 . In 1851 he became battalion commander in the 15th Infantry Regiment . He rose in 1853 to lieutenant colonel and in 1856 to colonel and commander of the 9th Infantry Regiment . In 1859 he was promoted to major general , first he became leader, then commander of the 14th Infantry Brigade and received the Order of the Red Eagle III. Class with swords. The marriage resulted in three daughters Luise (1852–1899), Marie (1853–1928) and Irene (1858–1880), of whom the first two were married one after the other to Paul Georg Lindenau († 1904), medical officer in Gardelegen .
