Friederike Kronau , also Friederike Cronau (born March 7, 1841 in Duisburg - Ruhrort , † February 18, 1918 in Vienna ) was a German-Austrian actress and illegitimate daughter of the actress Johanette Friederike Cronau . Her first marriage was to the kuk General Leopold Freiherr von Edelsheim-Gyulai , after whose death she was married to the kuk Feldzeugmeister Rudolf Prinz Lobkowitz .

Friederike Kronau first stepped onto the stage in Elbing and Linz , where she played the young lover . The next stops were the Carltheater in Vienna (1854 to 1855), Thorn , Pest , Dessau and again Pest, before Laube brought her to the Burgtheater in 1860 , where she played young lovers and salon ladies until 1863 . After an engagement at the Frankfurt Stadttheater 1863–65, she returned to the Carltheater in 1865 and embodied the female characters in the comedies by Sardou , Dumas the Younger and Feuillet. She was a darling of the Viennese public and successfully performed at other theaters of the Habsburg monarchy . Her main roles were Abigail in A Glass of Water , Rosamunde in Rosenmüller and Finke , Benjamine in The Good Friends and Princess George and Frou-Frou in the plays of the same name.

The best-known busts by the sculptor Victor Oskar Tilgner include the bust of Franz Joseph , the painters Führich and Schönn , the actress Charlotte Wolter and the poets Laube and Bauernfeld, the bust of Friederike Kronau.

After their first wedding, Kronau left the stage in May 1873.

1872 she had in Vienna the kuk Colonel and later General Leopold Freiherr of Edelsheim (born May 10, 1826 in Karlsruhe , in † March 27, 1893 Budapest married), with whom she's son Leopold had. As a hereditary member of the Hungarian House of Lords, her son was given the Hungarian count status in 1906 as " Count of Edelsheim-Gyulai of Marosnémeth and Nádaska". He was married to Princess Irma Odescalchi de Szerém.

In 1900, Friederike Kronau married Rudolf Prince Lobkowitz (born August 16, 1840 in Frischau; † April 9, 1908 in Vienna), kuk Feldzeugmeister, a son of Ludwig Johann Carl Joseph Prince Lobkowitz and Princess Leopoldine Maria Caroline Franciska Gabriele Eleonore Josepha von and Liechtenstein .

Their descendant, Ilona Countess of Edelsheim-Gyulai (born January 14, 1918 † April 18, 2013) married in 1940 to vice regent of Hungary , István Horthy (* 1904, † 1942), son of the regent of Hungary, Miklos Horthy (* 1868 ; † 1957), and was an honorary citizen of the Budapest Castle District since May 21, 2011 .
