The paddle steamer Friedrich August was in the shipbuilding place in 1854 cribs to put Kiel . It was built here from parts. The manufacturer of the ship parts was the shipbuilding company WU Pearce in Ludwigshafen / Rh . It was named after King Friedrich August II of Saxony .
The time until 1890
After commissioning as a smooth-deck steamer , the ship drove for the United Saxon-Bohemian Steamship , which was converted into the Saxon-Bohemian Steamship Company (SBDG) in March 1867 . The iron ship had a wooden ship floor. This was renewed in 1871.
In order to remove the access of the Kingdom of Prussia , the ship was moved to Theresienstadt in May 1866 during the Austro-Prussian War .
In the winter of 1876/77 the ship underwent a major overhaul. In the winter of 1880/81 the machine was completely overhauled.
In autumn 1890 the Friedrich August was shut down and scrapped in the Blasewitz shipyard .
The steam engine
The steam engine came from Friedrich August I , built in 1846 by the Buckau machine factory in Magdeburg . It was an oscillating low-pressure two-cylinder twin steam engine with injection condensation from Buckauer Maschinenfabrik with an output of 120 hp. The fire tube suitcase boiler also came from this company. The Königstein (III), built in 1891, received parts of the steam engine .
