Friedrich Jacob Boßler also called Bossler and Bosler (born March 18, 1717 in Darmstadt ; † April 7, 1793 there ) was a German arms manufacturer and artisan of the 18th century . He was in the service of the hunting landgrave Ludwig VIII of Hessen-Darmstadt as a court wind gun maker .

Friedrich Jacob Boßler "the elder" was born as the only child of the Hesse-Darmstadt court gunsmith Johann Peter Boßler (* 1689, † 1742) from his marriage to Maria Dorothea. The gunsmith Friedrich Jacob Boßler from the Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt had six children with his wife. His son Heinrich Philipp Boßler was one of the most renowned music publishers of his time and the impresario of Mariane Kirchgeßner . He associated with the greatest writers and composers of the 18th century. The famous playwright Friedrich Maximilian Klinger was a second cousin of Friedrich Jacob Boßler.
