Friedrich Joseph Theodor Schaaff (born November 10, 1792 in Karlsruhe , † September 3, 1876 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a Baden administrative officer and parliamentarian.

Life

Born as the son of the court gilders Christian Schaaff, Friedrich Theodor Schaaff studied law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . On March 27, 1810, he was one of the founders of the Corps Suevia Heidelberg . In the Wars of Liberation he took part in the 6th Landwehr Battalion in 1814 as a lieutenant and in 1815 as a first lieutenant. In 1816 he became a legal trainee at the Landamt Karlsruhe, in 1819 an official assessor in Lahr and in 1820 at the Second Landamt in Mosbach. In 1822 he was appointed bailiff and in 1825 senior bailiff in Mosbach. In 1827 he was appointed city director and administrative board member in Freiburg, 1832 senior bailiff and board member in Rastatt and in 1844 government director of the government of the Lower Rhine District in Mannheim . At the urging of the citizens of Mannheim, he was put into temporary retirement in 1848 because of his pro-government attitude.

From June 17 to October 15, 1849 he was General Commissioner of the Prince of Prussia and General State Commissioner at the General Command of the Prussian Intervention Army in the Grand Duchy of Baden . On November 16, 1849, he returned to the Baden civil service and in 1851 became the government director of the government of the Upper Rhine District in Freiburg . In 1864 he became the regional commissioner for the districts of Waldshut, Lörrach and Freiburg in Freiburg. Even after his retirement in 1866, he continued to live in Freiburg.

In Rastatt, Schaaff was a member of the founding commission of the local savings bank , of which he was a member of the board of directors in 1838.

From 1831 to 1866, Schaaff was a member of the second chamber of the Baden Council of Estates as a member of the electoral district 37 (Eberbach and places of the Mosbach office) . From 1851 to 1852 he was Second Vice-President and from 1854 to 1863 First Vice-President. Initially he belonged to the pro-government camp, and most recently to the National Liberal Party .

In 1850 Schaaff was a member of the Volkshaus of the Erfurt Union Parliament .
