Friedrich von Barby

Friedrich August Karl Ludwig von Barby (born November 1, 1801 in Loburg , † December 29, 1871 in Magdeburg ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

He was the son of Friedrich August Karl von Barby (1768-1835) and his wife Karoline, née von Wulffen (1774-1848) from the Grabow family. His father was a Prussian Rittmeister and lord of Loburg. The later Prussian Lieutenant General Wilhelm von Barby (1795-1883) was his older brother.

Military career

From 1812 Barby first visited the cadet houses in Potsdam and Berlin . On April 4, 1819, he was a second lieutenant of the 1st Guards Regiment walk the Prussian Army transferred. On August 26, 1821, he was transferred to the 27th Infantry Regiment (2nd Magdeburg) , where Barby was promoted to captain and company commander until March 1840 . With his promotion to major on December 14, 1848, he was appointed commander of the 2nd battalion. In this position on July 13, 1854 promoted to lieutenant colonel, Barby was appointed commander of the 37th Infantry Regiment in Mainz on October 29, 1857 . The 2nd Battalion still had its garrison in Luxembourg at the time . After Barby had been promoted to colonel on May 22, 1858 , he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle III on September 20, 1859 . Class with a bow and the permission to wear the regimental uniform with the statutory pension granted his departure.

On the occasion of the German War , Barby acted as commander of the 13th Infantry Brigade in Magdeburg for the duration of the mobile relationship and received the character of major general on January 3, 1867 .

Barby died unmarried.
