history

Friesenrath Old School

Presumably there was a Roman watchtower in the area of today's Friesenrath , as several finds suggest. It was first mentioned on November 10, 1334 as Vreyssenroide. During the French period , Friesenrath was assigned to Mairie Walheim in the Département de la Roer, Arrondissement Aachen, Canton Burtscheid.

In 1816 it became part of the Prussian civil parish of Walheim in the Aachen district . The first school was built in Friesenrath in 1914, and Friesenrath Castle in 1926. The St. Bernhard Chapel was built and inaugurated in 1939 according to plans by the architect Karl Schmitz .

Together with the Walheim community , Friesenrath came to the city of Aachen on January 1, 1972.
