The Fuchsbach is an approximately 11.4 km long watercourse and left tributary of the Schrakelbach in the northern Front Palatinate ( Rhineland-Palatinate ). In its headwaters, the water is often called the Fuchsbach, following the local dialect peculiarity of the language .

geography

course

Right arm of the Fuchsbach estuary to Isenach (left of the road)

The source is located near the former Freinsheim waterworks at 133  m above sea level. NHN .

Always moving in an easterly direction, the Fuchsbach first flows through Freinsheim, then the local communities Weisenheim am Sand and Lambsheim . To the east of Lambsheim the brook has always bent to the left. Since 1970, however, most of the Fuchsbach water has been discharged into the Schrakelbach, a right tributary of the Eckbach ; a smaller part flows to the right to the Isenach . At the same time, the original Fuchsbach in the center of Frankenthal was piped up and disappeared underground .

The main arm of the Fuchsbach, which leads to the left, passes 1.5 km before its confluence with the Schrakelbach without an above-ground connection on the northwest side of the Lambsheimer Weiher , a swimming lake with management. The mouth of the Fuchsbach stream is 92  m above sea level in the hamlet of Hahnenhof, which belongs to Frankenthal, next to state road  522 ( Lambsheim –Frankenthal).

Tributaries

The Fuchsbach has a larger inflow , namely the Talweidgraben from the left at the entrance to Weisenheim am Sand .

history

Until the end of the 18th century, its original geological drainage channel led the stream from the Hahnenhof through Frankenthal and via the boundaries of today's Ludwigshafen district of Pfingstweide directly to the Rhine . Between 1772 and 1781 the creek bed below Frankenthal was deepened to the - now drained -  canal to enable the city to build its canal port . For water supply, the stronger Isenach north was diverted into the channel so that the Fuchsbach her left tributary and this was down to the section course was mentioned changes in the 1970th
