Gérard Lamps

Gérard Lamps (born February 2, 1948 in Amiens ) is a French sound engineer .

Life

Lamps attended the Lycée Technique De La Société Industrielle in Amiens until 1966 and then studied audio engineering at the École Louis-Lumière until 1968 . He came to film in the early 1970s and worked for the first time as a sound mixing assistant on Alain Périsson's Le monde était plein de couleurs . Since then he has worked as a sound mixer and sound engineer in over 250 films. His films include On the Edge of the Night (1983), Jean de Florette (1986), Passionate Encounter (1987), The Lovers of Pont-Neuf (1991), Léon - The Professional (1994) and The Artist (2011) . For The Artist he was nominated for a British Academy Film Award in the category Best Sound in 2012 . With 19 nominations, he has also won a César seven times since 1983 .
