Friedrich Günther Julius Wilhelm von Le Suire (born October 21, 1846 in Ansbach , † July 17, 1906 in Altenmuhr ) was a Bavarian major general and chamberlain .

Life

origin

The Le Suire family comes from central France and was first mentioned there around 1406. Converted to Protestantism, Daniel von Le Suire had to flee to Germany in 1670 and entered the service of Prince zu Öttingen-Wallerstein . Here family members held various positions as civil servants and officers . In 1820 they were accepted into the hereditary nobility by the Bavarian King Maximilian I Joseph , citing their aristocratic origin.

Günther von Le Suire was a son of the Bavarian Lieutenant General and Minister of War Wilhelm von Le Suire and his second wife Adolfine, born von Danckelmann (1817–1899).

Military career

Le Suire joined the 2nd Chevaulegers Regiment "Taxis" of the Bavarian Army in Regensburg in 1864 as a cadet . In 1866 he took part with the regiment in the campaign against Prussia and was second lieutenant in the same year . In 1870/71 Le Suire was an orderly officer in the Reserve Cavalry Brigade of the II Army Corps in the Franco-German War and was deployed during the battles near Weißenburg , Wörth , Sedan and the siege of Paris . From 1873 to 1876 Le Suire graduated from the Bavarian War Academy , which awarded him the qualification for the higher adjutantage. In 1876 Le Suire became adjutant to Arnulf von Bayern and accompanied the prince during the Russo-Ottoman War in 1877/78 . After his return he was released from this command and transferred to the 1st Heavy Rider Regiment "Prince Karl of Bavaria" . In 1880 Le Suire became adjutant of the 1st Cavalry Brigade and in the following year he was appointed adjutant to Prince Leopold of Bavaria . In 1882 he was promoted to Rittmeister and appointed squadron chief in the 1st Heavy Rider Regiment "Prince Karl of Bavaria". In the further course of his military career Le Suire was as a colonel from 1894 to 1899 commander of the 1st Uhlan Regiment "Kaiser Wilhelm II., King of Prussia" in Bamberg and then as major general commander of the 2nd Cavalry Brigade in Augsburg . In 1903 he was relieved of this command and the disposition made.

Le Suire was also chamberlain and legal knight of the Order of St. John from 1886 . He inherited Altenmuhr Castle from his father, who died young , where he lived and later died.

family

Since 1879 Günther von Le Suire was married to Adelheid von Mannlich (1860–1941), descendant of the painter Johann Christian von Mannlich . From the marriage u. a. the son Günther Adolf Karl von Le Suire (1880–1950) emerged. He later became Bavarian chamberlain, officer and ministerial director and took part in the peace negotiations of Versailles and London in 1919/21 as a German diplomat .
