Gatschen is a village in the Ennstal in Styria as well as a locality and cadastral municipality in the municipality of Aigen in the Ennstal in the Austrian district of Liezen .
history
The earliest written document is from 1293 and is "Gaetsen". The name goes back to the Slovenian gača (weir, dam).
geography
The village of Gatschen is located at around 720 m above sea level. A. south of the municipality's capital , above the village of Lantschern and east of Pichlarn Castle , on the northern slope of the Ennstal. It is located at the foot of the Erlsberg (also Gatschberg , 1630 m above sea level ), which is the foothills of the Wölzer Tauern to the north.
The village has around 90 buildings with around 200 inhabitants. This also includes Pichlarn Castle .
The cadastral community, with almost 5300 hectares , also includes the entire mountainous area around the Gullingtal in the south, i.e. the majority (about 2 ⁄ 3 ) of the community area. As far as Alm Plotscherhütten in the back Plotscherergraben , the area belongs to the village of Gatschen, otherwise the villages of Quilk are to the east and all the scattered houses in Mitteregg are in the cadastral area.
