Gazometer

Gazometer is the name of Rave - Techno parties , originally from 1993 to 1998 in the Viennese gasometers were held.
After the gasometers were taken out of service in 1984, the telescopic gas containers inside the brick facade were dismantled . This remained because of the monument protection (1978). By dismantling the gas containers, a large room, bounded by the brick facade, became free, which was used for various events - such as the Gazometer raves.
They owe their particular fame to the gasometer sound. The large, empty, cylindrical room with a diameter of around 60 meters and a height of 50 meters caused increased echo formation with long reverberations . International DJs like Sven Väth also played in the Gasometer.
Since the conversion of the gasometer between 1999 and 2001 for use with apartments, offices, a student residence and an event hall as well as a shopping mall, the Gazometer raves have been held in the Gasometer event hall designed by the architects Coop Himmelb (l) au . The music style is the same, but the festivals have lost some of their charisma and uniqueness due to the lack of a large room and the completely changed acoustics .
Since 2009, some Gazometer events have taken place in the old carriage factory in the Stadlau industrial area . The XXX Productions website has now disappeared from the Internet.
