Gellershausen is a district of the municipality of Edertal in the north Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg in Germany . Surrounded by woods, a Haufendorf is in Wesebachtal directly on the south edge of the National Parks Keller Edersee . State road 3332 runs through the village , and the Kellerwaldsteig runs past the southern outskirts .

history

In the 13th century, the place is mentioned for the first time under the name Cheloldeshusen . There are indications that the settlement was founded much earlier, at the time of the Chatten . The village name changed several times over the years. The place is mentioned as Ghelosdeshusen, Gelderhusen and Ghelderhusen. The current name is mentioned for the first time in 1537. The community continued to develop, the place has been dominated by agriculture over the centuries. In addition, a lead mine and slate mining are mentioned in the past 300 years .

From the middle of the 19th century, the population was always around 500. On October 1, 1971, the place was incorporated into the municipality of Edertal.
