Hemfurth-Edersee is a district of Edertal in the north Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg . The place is a state-recognized health resort on the dam (Edertalsperre) of the Edersee reservoir .

Geographical location

The two districts of Hemfurth-Edersee -  Hemfurth in the southwest and Edersee in the northeast - lie on the northern edge of the Kellerwald and south of the eastern part of the Edersee. The Edersee district is located immediately south of the Edertalsperre, and the Hemfurth district at the western end of the Affolderner See lake further south . The Rehbach location , west of Hemfurth on the south bank of the Edersee, also belongs to Hemfurth-Edersee . The entire village is located within the Kellerwald-Edersee nature park at 204 to 539.2  m above sea level. NHN . To the east, past both districts, the Eder flows after passing through the Edertalsperre , and soon afterwards it also flows through the Affolderner See.

history

The church in Hemfurth was consecrated in 1847 instead of a half-timbered church that was demolished in 1843. For its 150th anniversary in 1997, the classical church building was extensively restored; The repair of the organ lasted until 1999. The bridge over the Eder was built in 1890.

The Edersee district developed from the settlement that was created for the dam administration employees when the dam was built. The buildings, like the barrier wall, were built with Grauwacke stones. In the center of the district there is still the office of the outskirts of Edertal of the waterways and shipping office Hann. Münden .

The short-lived community of Hemfurth-Edersee was created on September 1, 1968 from the merger of the two communities of Hemfurth and Edersee. On December 31, 1971, the Hemfurth-Edersee community - as well as the Affoldern , Anraff , Böhne , Bringhausen , Buhlen , Königshagen , Mehlen and Wellen communities  - joined the Edertal community, which was founded on July 1, 1971.
