Gerhard Wieser (born May 27, 1968 in Bruneck , South Tyrol ) is an Italian cook and specialist book author.

Career

Gerhard Wieser did his apprenticeship as a chef from 1983 to 1986 in South Tyrol. He then went through several positions abroad, including at the Hotel Bayrischer Hof in Munich , at the Grand Hotel Viktoria Jungfrau in Interlaken , and at the Giggeto restaurant in Treviso . In 1993 he received his master's certificate as the youngest master chef in South Tyrol. He gained further experience with some of the best chefs in Germany, including Harald Wohlfahrt in the Schwarzwaldstube, Dieter Müller in the Schlosshotel Lerbach , Joachim Wissler in the Vendôme and Klaus Erfort in the Erfort guest house.

In 1992 he moved to the "Hotel Castel" in Dorf Tirol , where he has been the head chef since 1994. In 2001 he opened the gourmet restaurant "Trenkerstube" in the Hotel Castel, which was awarded the first Michelin star in 2006 and the second in 2010 .

Since 2000 he has also been active as a speaker, specialist and member of the examinations for the South Tyrolean journeyman's and master's exams in the field of cooking.

Together with Heinrich Gasteiger and Helmut Bachmann , he has already written over 70 cookbooks on South Tyrolean and Mediterranean cuisine, which have been published by Athesia- Verlag in Bozen in both German and Italian and some have been translated into English.
