action
The craftsman Francis O'Brien ( Denis Leary ) occasionally works as a thief. On behalf of the fighter Beano, who in turn was commissioned by a rich man, he steals a valuable painting by Matisse . O'Brien and his girlfriend Roz ( Sandra Bullock ) take the picture to an island in New England , where they are occupying a currently uninhabited house until the picture is handed over. They pretend to be acquaintances of the residents and to belong to the upper class of society. Roz flirts with Evan Marsh, who lives in the neighborhood, while O'Brien makes the acquaintance of a filming teenager who also shot Marsh on a date at his house. On this film, O'Brian sees another picture of Matisse, which he later sees in a catalog as being stolen and not found.
The meeting of O'Brien, Beono and the client is to take place in a closed fish factory. Roz is coming too. The stranger, however, introduces gas into the factory and disappears with the picture, unseen. FBI agent O'Malley has already been on the trail of Beano and arrests the trio at the factory. O'Brien names Marsh a suspect. He and Roz attend a house search at Marsh, which initially brings no results. The operation is supposed to be canceled, then O'Brien finds a hidden room with the stolen paintings.
Reviews
The film was described as "very funny" in TV Hören + See magazine, "perfectly timed" and "smart" in Cinema magazine, and " funny to shoot" in TV Today magazine .
"Although" Stolen Hearts "is a romantic comedy like Sandra Bullock's ultimate breakthrough" While you were sleeping ... ", the spark never jumps here. The script relies too much on a flat story and unimaginative dialogues. "
“One of Sandra Bullock's not exactly rare flops. Obviously it doesn't want to spark between her and the loudmouth Denis Leary. Even the thin plot is hardly likely to lure anyone out from behind the stove. After all, there are a few weird characters and every now and then a bit of dialogue. "
"Fast-paced crook comedy that derives some charm from the thin plot thanks to original characters, surprising turns and funny dialogues."
