Girolamo di Benvenuto
Girolamo di Benvenuto (* around September 23, 1470 in Siena ; † around June 28, 1524 there ) was an Italian painter who painted in the style of the Siena School .
Life
Girolamo di Benvenuto (also Girolamo di Benvenuto di Giovanni Del Guasta ) was born as the son of Benvenuto di Giovanni and his wife Iacopa di Tommaso da Cetona. He was baptized on September 23, 1470. He received his training in his father's workshop, with whom Bernardino Fungai , at times with Girolamo di Benvenuto, also studied. His first signed work dates from 1508, but before that he was already active on several works that were signed by his father. His father's workshop was located in Siena in the third third of the city, Terzo di San Martino, on Via del Rialto near Piazza del Campo , where the two of them lived. It is documented that Girolamo used a house outside of Siena at least from 1518 and that it was located near the Abbazia di Alfiano (Alfiano Abbey) (today it is in the Pieve a Bozzone district of Senes ). In 1501 he married Alessandra di ser Stefano de Cesari . While his early work was still dominated by his father, Luca Signorelli had a considerable influence on his later work.
