The Gmina Frombork [ ˈfrɔmbɔrk ] is an urban-and-rural municipality in the powiat Braniewski of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city of the same name ( German Frauenburg ) with about 2500 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality with an area of 125.8 km² is located in the northwest of the voivodeship. Their neighboring communities are Braniewo in the east, Płoskinia in the southeast, Młynary in the south and Tolkmicko in the west. In the north it borders on the municipality of Krynica Morska (Kahlberg) on the Fresh Spit . A strip of the Frischen Haff , where the main town has a small port, belongs to the municipality .
history
In 1959, Frombork was given back the city rights that were revoked in 1945 . The rural community was reorganized in 1973. Urban and rural communities were merged to form urban and rural communities in 1990/1991. Their territory belonged to the Olsztyn Voivodeship from 1946 to 1975 and to the Elbląg Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998 . In 1999 the parish came to the newly formed Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and Powiat Braniewski, which was re-established.
