KK Gonzo ( Japanese 株式会社 ゴ ン ゾ , Kabushiki-gaisha Gonzo ) is a Japanese animation studio. Some of the gonzo animes have been released on DVD by various companies in Germany , and some series such as Blue Submarine No. 6 or Hellsing on German television.

history

In September 1992, the YK Gonzo ( 有限会社 ゴ ン ゾ , Yūgen-gaisha Gonzo , corresponds to a German GmbH ) was founded by Mahiro Maeda , Hiroshi Yamaguchi , Shinji Higuchi and Shōji Murahama and produced jingles for Space Shower TV . In the following years the company expanded and worked on films, PlayStation and Sega-Saturn games. In May 1996, KK Digimation, which specializes in CG animation, was founded.

In 1998, Macross Dynamite 7 and Blue Submarine No. 6 produced the first anime. A year later in May, the corporate form was changed to a KK. In February 2002 the KK Gonzo merged with the KK Digimation to form the KK Gonzo Digimation. In July 2004 it was renamed KK Gonzo.

In March 2008, the GDH Group announced that it would make new titles available worldwide with English subtitles as streaming video on YouTube , CrunchyRoll and BOST at the same time as they were broadcast on television . The premiere took place on April 4, 2008 with Druaga no Tō - The Aegis of Uruk .

In addition to KK Gonzo, the group also included KK Gonzo Rosso Online, KK GDH Capital, KK G-creators (formerly KK Creators.com), KK Future Visions Music, KK Gonzino and Go-n Productions. A total of 59 employees now work at GDF.

In April 2009, KK GDH was renamed KK Gonzo.

In August 2016, the advertising agency Asatsu-DK acquired 84% of the shares in the studio.
