Good Thing ( English for, good thing ') is a song of the German-Russian DJs Zedd and the US R & B - singer Kehlani .
Creation and artwork
The song was written jointly by the two interpreters Kehlani Parrish and Zedd (Anton Zaslavski) as well as the other authors Fin "Starsmith" Dow-Smith, Peter "Lostboy" Rycroft and Cleo Tighe. Production was done by Lostboy, Starsmith and Zedd. In addition, Zedd was also responsible for mixing the piece. The mastering was done by the British Mike Marsh from The Exchange Mike Marsh Mastering. The technical support during the production took place under the direction of the American sound engineer Ryan Shanahan.
On the front cover of the single you can see - in addition to the artist name and song title - a hot air balloon over the sea during sunset . At the bottom of the balloon there is a heart instead of the typical basket. There is a white glowing ring around the balloon envelope.

Music video
The music video for Good Thing premiered on October 3, 2019 on YouTube . The video is set in a restaurant where Kehlani is the waitress and Zedd is the pianist . At the beginning, a dispute between Zedd and the restaurant guide can be seen, in which Zedd is advised that he should no longer play modern jazz . Zedd then goes to his piano, first listens to the conversations in the hall and begins to play Good Thing . Kehlani then appears at the start of her shift. First she goes about her job, but after an incident with a guest in which she is poured a red wine , she takes a break for the time being. This shows a dance sequence with her and other dancers in an empty hall. After this sequence, she enters the kitchen, where she takes off her work clothes and goes back to the dining room. There she first harasses the guests by pulling items of clothing off their bodies, spitting on them or threatening them with a fork. Later it is on the piano with Zedd. Towards the end she gets from a guest an envelope with money and the words "I gotta good thing for you ... call me" ( English for, I have a good thing for you ... call me ') hands, to which they "Just the tip ”( English for 'tip only') replied. The video ends with a dance system by Kehlani and the dancers, where the guests are also harassed in between. The total length of the video is 4:22 minutes. As with Zedd's previous single 365 , it was directed by American director Warren Fu. To date, the music video has over 37.4 million views on YouTube (as of May 2020).

Good Thing reached position 92 in the UK's official singles charts and was in the charts for a total of four weeks. In the United States, the single missed the Billboard Hot 100 , but made it to number 23 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles (equivalent to the single trend charts in Germany). In addition, the song was placed in the German iTunes daily evaluations for several days and reached position 74, its highest chart listing on September 27, 2019.
For Zedd as an interpreter, Good Thing is the twelfth chart success in the UK. As an author and performer, this was the 14th time he reached the British single charts. Kehlani reached the UK charts for the eighth time as an interpreter and for the seventh time as an author.
