The song was written jointly by the two interpreters Katy Perry and Anton Zaslavski (Zedd), the Danish producer duo PhD (consisting of: Daniel Heløy Davidsen and Peter Wallevik), Mich Hedin Hansen, also from Denmark, and the Norwegian Caroline Ailin Furøyen as well as the British author Corey Sanders. The production was done by Cutfather (Mich Hedin Hansen), the producer duo PhD and Zedd. In addition, Zedd was also responsible for mixing the piece. The mastering was done by the British Mike Marsh from The Exchange Mike Marsh Mastering. The technical support during the production took place under the direction of the American sound engineer Ryan Shanahan.

The first release of 365 took place on February 14, 2019 as a single download and music streaming. The song was released under the Interscope Records music label and distributed through Universal Music Publishing .

From August 8 to August 21, 2018, Zedd played in the opening act - at eight concerts - during Katy Perry's Witness: The Tour concert series in Australia and New Zealand. During this time they worked together on new music. At that point, Zedd was unsure whether the collaboration would lead to a result. In April of the same year, Perry asked her fans in an Instagram story if she should publish a song with Zedd. To do this, she uploaded a joint picture of the two, which was taken in the backstage area during Perry's Witness Tour in Singapore . Rumors of a joint production intensified in late January 2019 after a song entitled 365 was registered with Universal Music Publishing . On February 13, 2019, Perry and Zedd started the promotion of the piece by first sending each other emojis via their Twitter profiles. Zedd later shared a trailer for 365 on his Twitter channel .

Music video
The music video for 365 celebrated its premiere on February 14, 2019 on YouTube . During the video, Perry slips into the role of a robot and Zedd into the role of a human test object. Both take part in an experiment in which the coexistence of the two is observed. The project has a duration of 365 days and takes place in the Swiss city of Geneva . Perry falls in love with Zedd during the experiment, but Zedd does not reciprocate and distances himself from Perry. Zedd's behavior breaks Perry's heart, causing her to malfunction, leading to a complete failure. The research team then removes them from the experiment and ultimately switches them off. The total length of the video is 4:23 minutes. Directed by the American director Warren Fu. To date, the music video has over 71 million views on YouTube (as of April 2019).
