Katy Hudson is a gospel - rock album of 2001 by Katy Hudson, now Katy Perry . The album in the genre Christian music was the debut of the then 16-year-olds.
Origin and style
Katy Hudson is listed as the author of four songs on the album and she is also the co-author of the rest of the songs. Trust in Me was the main single . On the album she played pop rock, which was influenced by artists such as Sarah McLachlan and Fiona Apple . The album was also credited with strong inspiration from Alanis Morissette . The release of the album revealed the likelihood of confusion with Kate Hudson , the daughter of Goldie Hawn . This was one reason for the later name change to Kay Perry.
reception
The album was extremely unsuccessful commercially, it didn't even sell 200 copies. But it found wide acceptance in the Christian music scene. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic called the album overproduced, it was also clear that "the town girl would never have been satisfied with hanging around on a Christian farm". The album shows that today's Katy Perry has talent, but she was "wrongly marketed". It awarded three out of five stars.
