Get Low ( English "sink" or "go deeper") is a song by the German - Russian DJ Zedd in cooperation with the British pop singer Liam Payne . The piece appeared on Zedd's compilation Stay + and as a second single from Payne's debut album LP1 .
Creation and artwork
The song was written jointly by Charles Hinshaw, Fabienne Holloway, Tristan Landymore and Anton Zaslavski (Zedd). The latter also produced the single. The song was released under the Interscope Records music label and distributed through Almo-Music Corporation, Copyright Control Shares, Universal Music Publishing and Zedd Music Empire. On the cover of the maxi single - in addition to the artist name and song title - there is a picture with a lake and red palm trees against a beige background.
Publication and promotion
The first publication of Get Low took place as a single download on July 6, 2017. In order to promote the song, the two performers appeared together on the US news program Good Morning America .

In an interview with Beats 1 , Zedd described the song as follows: “I think it's a good balance between Liam's new solo sound and where I want my own music to go. It's right in the middle. It's arguably the most urban song I've ever done, and it's such a catchy tune that after a while you'll hate it for stuck in your head. ”He also described Get Low as his definition of one “Summer hit” with a Drake influenced sound (“Drake-ish influenced sound”).
During an interview with Matthew Meadow of Your EDM , Zedd described the collaboration with Payne similar to that with Alessia Cara , from which the previous single Stay emerged. Without Payne, he might never have completed Get Low . Payne pulled the piece with his soul in his voice in a direction that Zedd could never have managed and he loved the result.

The music video for Get Low premiered on YouTube on July 20, 2017 . You can see Zedd's day-to-day touring, with live performances from various festivals and Zedd's leisure time activities between performances. Recordings from Baltimore (United States), the Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) and Tokyo (Japan) can be seen, among others. Payne only appears in a short scene at the beginning where he is holding a photo shoot with Zedd. The total length of the video is around 3:25 minutes. The director was Kevin Bressler , who comes from Koblenz . To date, the music video has over ten million views on YouTube (as of December 2019).

- Billboard's Sandie Bell thinks the song will take someone on a trip to paradise because of its “house bass” and “fantastic production”. The song feels like a soundtrack for a summer weekend with Payne's “mature” appearance and the “hot-blooded” lyrics .
- Rolling Stone's Jon Blistein described Get Low as "hot-blooded and snappy."
- Erin Jensen from USA Today criticized the lack of depth of content, but he still feels the song is a “catchy summer anthem” with “very danceable sounds”. It is a "perfect soundtrack for a day at the pool or an evening in the club".

Get Low reached position 75 in the single charts in Germany and stayed in the charts for a week. The single was placed in the daily evaluations of the German iTunes charts for several days and reached position 23 on July 7, 2017, the highest rank. In Austria and Switzerland the single reached position 54, in the United Kingdom position 26 and in the United States Position 91 on the Billboard Hot 100 .
For Payne, after his career with One Direction, it is the second chart success in each of the countries listed as a solo artist. For Zedd as an interpreter, Get Low is the ninth chart success in the United States, as well as the eighth in Germany and the United Kingdom, the seventh in Austria and the sixth in Switzerland. Awards for music sales
In June 2019, almost two years after its initial release, Get Low was awarded a gold record in the United States . After the single achieved gold status in October 2017, the two musicians went platinum in Canada in August 2019 . As early as 2018, a silver record was awarded in the United Kingdom and a gold record was awarded in Mexico. For Zedd, this is the twelfth work as an interpreter to have achieved at least gold status in the United States. For Payne it is the second single after Strip That Down to achieve at least gold status in the United States.
