Gottlieb Heinrich von Becker

Gottlieb Heinrich Becker , from 1798 von Becker , (born November 3, 1727 in Halle, † July 19, 1804 in Neisse ) was a Prussian colonel and chief of the Silesian fortress artillery.

Life

Origin and family

Gottlieb Heinrich came from one of three eponymous Pfänner families in Halle. As a colonel and commander of the Silesian fortress artillery, he was raised to the hereditary Prussian nobility on July 6, 1798 . He left three sons who also served as officers in the Prussian army and of whom at least one or his son in Nieder Bischofswalde in the Neisse district was wealthy .

Career

Becker joined the Prussian artillery in 1757 . During the Seven Years' War , in which he took an active part, he was promoted to seconde in 1759 - and after the war in 1764 to prime lieutenant . He continued a career and rose to staff captain in 1772 and prime captain in 1778 . He was promoted to major in 1788 and to lieutenant colonel in 1793.

He took part in the First Coalition War and was awarded the Order of Pour le Mérite in 1793 as a lieutenant colonel in the field artillery corps of the 2nd regiment for his service in the siege of Mainz .

In 1795 he was promoted to colonel . In the meantime, in the 1790s, he was also employed as the company commander of the 7th Company in Neisse, and as the commander of the 2nd regiment. He is said to have become chief of the riding artillery in 1797. He received his farewell in 1804 , but died that same year.
