Location of the association of municipalities in the Grand Est region

The Communauté d'agglomération du Grand Verdun is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté d'agglomération in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region . It was founded on November 27, 2014 and comprises 25 municipalities (as of January 1, 2019). The administrative headquarters are in the city of Verdun .

Historical development

The community association was created with effect from January 1, 2015 through the merger of the predecessor organizations

• Communauté de communes de Charny-sur-Meuse and
• Communauté de Communes de Verdun .

With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Vaux-devant-Damloup and Douaumont became part of the Commune nouvelle Douaumont-Vaux . This reduced the number of member communities to 25.
