Louvemont-Côte-du-Poivre is a French commune without inhabitants in the department of Meuse in the region of Grand Est (2015 Lorraine ).
The municipality has no inhabitants, it is one of the nine villages in the Meuse department that were completely destroyed in the First World War during the Battle of Verdun and were never rebuilt. In 1911 the population was still 183. After the hostilities ceased, it was decided to preserve the community and to declare it a "village that fell for France". Reasons for the resettlement were also the pollution of the soil with duds, remains of poison gas, other war material and the not buried dead.
Today the community is administered by a three-person council. The three people are appointed by the head of the department (the prefect). Louvemont-Côte-du-Poivre is ten kilometers north of Verdun in the Forêt de Verdun . The place can be reached from Bras-sur-Meuse via a side road from the D913 (direction Douaumont).
The nine villages destroyed are Beaumont , Bezonvaux , Cumières , Douaumont , Fleury , Haumont , Louvemont, Ornes and Vaux .
