Halles-sous-les-Côtes is a French commune with 151 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region ( Lorraine until 2015 ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Verdun and to the municipality association Pays de Stenay et Val Dunois, founded in 2016 .
geography
Halles-sous-les-Côtes is located in the Argonne countryside , about 45 kilometers northwest of Verdun and 17 kilometers south of the border with Belgium . The northeast border of the municipality is marked by the Wiseppe river , which enters the wide valley of the Meuse here . The village of Halles and the north of the municipality lie at 180 to 200 m above sea level in the flat river valley of the Wiseppe, which is characterized by meadows and fields. To the south is the striking, 100 m steep step ("côtes"), which leads to the wooded high plateau of the Bois de Halles . Halles-sous-les-Côtes is bounded by the neighboring communities of Beauclair in the west, north-west and north, Wiseppe in the north-east and Montigny-devant-Sassey in the south-east and south.

The D 30A road runs through the municipality from Beaufort-en-Argonne to Mont-devant-Sassey . In Sedan , 45 kilometers away, there is a connection to the A34 autoroute .
