geography

The municipality of Nepvant is located on the Chiers , five kilometers north of Stenay , about 33 kilometers southeast of Sedan and about twelve kilometers southwest of the border with Belgium .

The 5.15 km² municipal area fills an almost circular valley basin, which arose from a former loop of the river Chiers and which has long since been broken through and silted up. The village, located like an amphitheater at about 180 m above sea level, is surrounded by wooded slopes that rise to 250 to 280 m above sea level. In the northeast, the basin opens up to the Chiers river, which also marks the northeastern municipal boundary.

Neighboring municipalities of Nepvant are Olizy-sur-Chiers in the north, Lamouilly in the east, Brouennes in the southeast and Stenay in the southwest and west.
