Futeau (1793 still with the spelling Futau ) is a French commune with 161 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Verdun and the Center Argonne municipality .

geography

Futeau is located in the south of the Argonne on the river Biesme , which marks the border with the Marne department , about 35 kilometers west-southwest of Verdun . In addition to the eponymous village of Futeau, the municipality includes the districts of Bellefontaine, Courupt, La Contrôlerie and Les Senades . Futeau is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Les Islettes in the north and east, Beaulieu-en-Argonne in the south, Châtrices in the south-west and Sainte-Menehould in the north-west.

Futeau is on the D2 main road from Les Islettes to Seuil-d'Argonne . The A4 (Paris – Strasbourg) autoroute runs through the north of the municipality .
