Luzy-Saint-Martin is located on the left bank of the Meuse in the Argonne between the towns of Stenay and Mouzon .

history

It was not until 1922 that the municipality of Luzy received the suffix -Saint-Martin in order to be able to differentiate it better from other municipalities of the same name .

Attractions

German memorial for those who fell in the First World War
  • The German memorial for the fallen on the Grand Truche , commemorates the battle of August 27, 1914 in World War I , in which the German army tried to cross the Meuse .
  • A memorial in the form of a rotunda was erected by Germans on the edge of the forest. It is around a hundred meters from the German military cemetery monument. Originally there were the graves for 82 French and 118 German fallen soldiers who were recovered from the nearby battlefield. The corpses were later reburied; they now rest in the central military cemeteries of Brieulles-sur-Meuse .

Economy and Infrastructure

Six farms are located in the municipality (cereal cultivation, dairy farming, cattle breeding).

The D 32 trunk road from Charmes to Rambervillers runs through the municipality of Essegney . In the nearby town of Charmes there is a connection to the motorway-like RN 57 from Nancy to Épinal . Charmes station, one and a half kilometers from Essegney, is on the Blainville-Damelevières-Lure railway line .
